Network Simulator (or ns2 as we call it) is a powerful network simulator and widely used for various network simulation. Unfortunately, there’re not a lot of guides available how to install ns2 on latest Mac OS and even if they’re available, it has to be patched in order to make it run for Mac OS.
To simplify, steps, I’ve create a small bash scrip which does everything for you from downloading source to applying patches and making and installing paths as well.
Here are the steps.
- Clone the script from github. : git clone https://github.com/dhruvvyas90/ns-install-osx
- cd ns-install-osx
- chmod +x install.sh
- sudo ./install.sh
That’s it. Make sure you’re connected to internet. After installation, you may want to restart the terminal to make paths effective. Once restarted, use `ns` to see if it works. You can check if `nam` is working by typing `nam` on terminal.
Note : Please note that patches are not created by me and full credit for patch goes to original author (@aemreunal on github) . Independent patches are available on this link : https://github.com/aemreunal/ns-allinone-2.35-Mac-OS-10.9-install-patch
